Hanton family & Uniting Churches donation!

Last week we received a special one-off donation from the extended Hanton family in Brisbane in conjunction with the Ashgrove West and Deception Bay Uniting Churches – 150 Christmas teddies!

Calvin Hanlon writes:

“The bears are a gift of the Extended Hanton Family in lieu of the amount that would normally be spent on Children’s Christmas Gifts at our annual family get together. We usually support Tear Australia or Uniting World but the plight of the Children in Detention Centres touched all the family so we purchased 80 bears. All the Grand Children are very excited that the Teddies they selected and cuddled at the shop are going to help so many children.

The balance of 70+ Teddies are a gift from the congregations of the Ashgrove West and Deception Bay Uniting Churches. We all read of your project in the Uniting Church News and since getting the Teddies on Sunday I have been given a further $50 to pass on.”

The teddies are now on their way interstate to be included in a large Christmas drive coordinated by an organisation supporting many children and families who face uncertainty and detention this Christmas.

Teddy Bears Without Borders would like to express our gratitude to the Hanton family, Ashgrove West and Deception Bay Uniting Churches – your love and compassion are powerful forces at work on this issue. Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
